Climate:

Orlando and Kissimmee enjoy a year round sub tropical climate.  Even in the cooler winter months daytime temperatures seldom dip below the mid 70's, although a sweater is recommended for the evening or early morning.  Springtime and autumn offer a good mix of warm or hot days with plenty of sunshine and balmy evenings. The summer months are the hottest and this is also the season that experiences most rainfall, although this is almost always in the form of heavy late afternoon thunderstorms which rarely last more than an hour or so before giving way to clear fresh evenings.  It should be noted that during thunderstorms it is advisable to refrain from swimming or water activities, even your pool and spa. As always in the tropics the sun is extremely strong and intense for most of the day all year round.  Sun protection should be applied for even short periods of exposure and should be reapplied after swimming.  Be aware that pool deck screens are merely protection against insects and other native floridian critters and offer no protection from the sun.

Airports:

Most scheduled air carriers* arrive into Orlando international airport(MCO). Distance from Sunset Lakes is around 16 miles and takes approximately 25 minutes.  Tip. Make sure you change up a few quarters so you have exact change for the tolls, about 6 ($1.50) will be plenty.

* Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, American Airlines, Continental airlines etc.

The majority of charter carriers* arrive into Sanford airport. This airport is approximately 40 miles away and journey time to Sunset Lakes is 50-60 minutes.

*First Choice, MyTravel, Monarch etc.

Disney resorts/Downtown Disney: 4-5 miles/5-15 minutes depending on resort

Sea World:6 miles/15 minutes

Universal resorts: 9 miles/15-20 minutes

Wet&Wild: 8 miles/15-20 minutes

Medieval Times: 8 miles/15 minutes

Cape Canaveral/Daytona Beach area: 45 miles/45-60 minutes

Clearwater/gulf coast beaches: 65 miles/70-90 minutes

Shopping:

Orlando Premium outlets: 6 miles/10-15 minutes

Belz factory outlets on I-Drive: 11 miles/20 minutes

Note: These are the primary factory outlet malls.  There are many others located mainly on International Drive and Hwy192.  Details can be provided upon request.

Within a 1-2 mile radius of Sunset Lakes there is a good selection of supermarkets for your grocery shopping and numerous smaller gift and speciality shops.

Outback steakhouse: 1 mile/5 minutes
Houlihans: 1/2 mile/2 minutes.
Carrabas: 1 mile/5 minutes
Red Lobster: 1 mile/5 minutes
Giordanos: 1 mile/5 minutes
Black Angus Steakhouse: 2 miles/5-10 minutes.
T.G.I. Fridays: 1 mile/5minutes


Also within a 1-2 mile radius: Mcdonalds. Taco Bell.  Burger King. KFC. Subway, Dominos, Pizza hut.


Golf:

There are around 10 golf courses within a 5 mile/15 minute radius of Sunset Lakes.  These include courses at the Walt Disney resort and Celebration. All of these courses are impeccably groomed and maintained with good facilities. Further details available on request.

Note. There is also a great volcano themed miniature golf course 1 1/2 miles from the house which is great fun to play as a group!
